"SPRING" PONY...is based on a picture I found on the internet of a horse... This pony was a bit easier

to do then the last 2 contest ponies because I had something to base it on....

The base color of the pony soft body titanium white mixed with a iridescent medium. I used a

straw to blow black acrylic paint on the body to give skin spots . I put a thin layer of white acrylic mixed

with medium over the body to cover the spots. From there I used Artisan Prussian blue rubbed on the

pony with fingers and a cloth. On top of the blue I again used the titanium white mixed with black and

iridescent medium to make a thin layer of gray. I used a cloth to rub onto the pony.. On top of that layer I

used pastel soft chalk in black. I used my fingers to blend legs, hooves, butt area, chest and face. I am

unable to do eyes so all I can do is a blend color for where the eyes should be.

The base is covered in 3 different green acrylic colors painted to give a field/grass effect. The

pony was sealed with a gloss sealer to help deepen the colors.

The tail was removed using my Dremal and a new hole was drilled to accommodate her tail. I

used 3 pieces of wire which I breaded together and place in the hole. The tail is removable if the

pony has to be packaged. I started from the bottom of the trail and placed tibetan hair in alternate

layers up to the head of the tail. I used white and black to get the color effect I wanted. The mane is the

same hair starting at the wither (shoulder) up to the ears. The original mane was grounded down with a

tool in my garage . I have no idea what it is called but it worked great. I cleaned it up with the Dremal to

give the neck a smooth clean look.. I was able to glue the Tibetan hair in tuffs to give a nice flowing

mane intermixing the black and white.. The flowers stems were cut from the buds and I glued the flowers

to the trail and mane.

The flowers in the mane, tail and vine are made of clay with the leaves made of paper . The

leaves have been painted with a glue substance and allowed to dry to make them stiff. The vine was

made by me. It started out as single flowers and single stem leaves. I used floral wire and floral tape

and look what I got...pretty cool huh!

The grass on the base is made from my 35 year old Quarter  horses tail . I cut pieces and painted them

green, drilled holes in the base and there you go grass......

The rocks were purchased from a art store . I wanted to give the illusion the pony is cantering in a

green field along a rock wall on a spring day. She ran into flower vines while in the field. SO there you

go " SPRING PONY."

( The above description of making this pony is not in chronicle order )
